The most desired request from current hearing aid users is ‘better hearing in background noise’ so this is the main focus for Phonak’s new Audeo Lumity, helping you to fully immerse in conversations in any environment.

Lumity Hearing Aid Features

There are two key developments:

    • StereoZoom 2.0 – designed to focus the microphones of the hearing aids forwards when the hearing aid user is in a noisy surroundings so you can hear what you are looking at with a smoother, more gradual adaption to the sound levels as they change. As the noise levels increase, there’s a gradual focus on the person in front and hopefully should remove that trapped in a bubble, blocked off feeling when you’re in background noise.
    •  SpeechSensor – a 360-degree speech detection algorithm allowing you to hear more conversations from all around you. Phonak say that approximately 80% of conversations come in front of us on a day-to-day basis, with 20% coming from the behind or to the side. This means you will pick up speech without having to turn your head towards the speaker.

In addition Lumity also includes:

  • Universal Bluetooth® connectivity
  • Exceptional sound
  • myPhonak app pairing for make adjustments, creating customised programs and optional goal settings. You also connect directly with your clinical audiologist who can provide remote assistance.

Covid Update

Essential audiology and hearing services continue to operate 

Following recent announcements from the Prime Minister we would like to remind you that as we enter Tier 3 we remain open as usual.  Regardless of the tier your area is in, government guidelines state that “You can and should still travel for a number of reasons, including hospital, GP and other medical appointments”  

According to these guidelines, audiology services fall into this category as an “essential service”.  So please feel free to visit us and ensure that your hearing is at its best in time for the festive season!

If you’re unable to come in to see us we can assist, where possible, remotely or send out supplies on request. 

We have created a COVID SAFE environment according to PHE guidelines and as you have told us how important our service is to you; clinics will continue to run on a Monday and Tuesday 8am-5pm. 

Hearing clinic open again

I am pleased to let you know that our clinic is open again every Monday and Tuesday, 9am – 5pm.  However you can speak to us Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm. 

We can offer face-to-face appointments but are also available for online consultations if you would prefer not to come into the practice.  If you were due to have your annual review or require wax removal, please call us and we would be happy to arrange an appointment.  

We have implemented appropriate social distancing measures and your audiologist will be wearing various levels of PPE depending on the type of appointment you require.  We continue to sanitise all rooms and equipment after each appointment and we would ask that you wear a face mask when attending the practice.

The Field magazine Shooting Earplugs

The Harley Street Hearing group’s Clinical Audiologist Fiona Butterworth was interviewed by The Field magazine for their article about shooting earplugs “When warning decibels start ringing”.

Custom-made, in-ear plugs can be an expensive option but the protection they offer is excellent. “Provided the in-ear hearing protection is correctly fitted and sealing the ear appropriately, these can provide a higher level of protection than the over-ear hearing protection,” advises Butterworth.

Instant wax removal service

Wax blocking the ear canal can be annoying and frustrating. We provide a safe and effective ear care service.  No need to wait weeks to see your GP, you can normally be seen within 24 hours.

Microsuction is the most effective and quickest form of wax removal.  Wax can be removed more easily and quickly if you use softening drops, or olive oil, prior to your appointment; but this is not always necessary.

We offer the full range of ear care techniques including Irrigation and instrumentation.
